Severely Cracked Portrait

This is a photograph of a grandmother from RetouchPro.com.. The date of the photograph is not known, but it is probably in the 1920s-40s period. It was faded with a brown/yellow tint, and severely cracked throughout, including most of the face. To restore it we:

  • Removed extensive cracks throughout the photograph, including face, clothing
  • Repaired damage to eyes
  • Rebuilt parts of face, neck, necklace
  • Removed brown/yellow faded tint
  • Improved brightness and contrast
  • Smoothed face and other skin areas

In Uniform - 1902

This photograph is from RetouchPro.com, and it's a photograph of a grandfather in his uniform (police?, military?) from 1902. It was faded severely cracked and stained which some sections like the top of the left ear and hair missing detail. To restore this photograph we:

  • Removed all cracks throughout the photograph, including the face
  • Rebuilt the upper part of the left ear
  • Repaired the hair
  • Removed fading
  • Improved contrast
  • Smoothed the face and other skin areas

1950's Sitting Portrait

This is a photograph of a young girl taken in the 50's. The photograph contains many cracks throughout, has faded over the years, and is a little out of focus. What we did to restore this cute photograph was:

  • Repaired the cracks throughout the photograph
  • Adjusted shadows, highlights and midtones
  • Sharpened the face, arms, legs and dress
  • Lightened up the sky and clouds in the backgrounds
  • Colorized the photograph

Sitting Portrait ~ 1900

This photograph is from RetouchPro.com of a Great Grandmother taken around 1900. It was substantially stained and had a many cracks and scratches, and missing detail. To restore it we:

  • Removed all stains, cracks and scratches throughout the photograph, including face, clothing, chair, rug and wall.
  • Improved contrast
  • Rebuilt the rug and wall
  • Hand colored the photograph

Portrait of a Grandmother

This extremely faded photograph is from RetouchPro.com, and it 's of a grandmother. To restore it we performed the following steps:

  • Built up the detail that had faded
  • Adjusted shadows, highlights and midtones
  • Restored the face by adding depth and smoothness
  • Restored the dress
  • Replaced the damaged background

Old Portrait of Client's Mother

This photograph has faded and has significant cracks, stains and areas missing. To restore this portrait of our Client's Mother we performed the following:

  • Repaired the cracks throughout the photograph.
  • Filled-in missing areas
  • Colorized the photograph according to Client's specifications
  • Improved the contrast photograph.

Chief Justice William Cranch

This is a photograph of William Cranch, who was the Chief Justice of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia in the mid nineteenth century. This photograph was taken between 1844-1860 and is part of the Library of Congress collection. Judge William Cranch administered the oath of office for Presidents John Tyler and Millard Fillmore. The face on this photograph was fairly free of damage except for a few lines, but was overexposed. The majority of repair centered around correcting the exposure problem, the background, and, his robe/suit.

  • Repaired all marks and scratches
  • Brought the Judge's face into focus
  • Adjusted brightness and contrast
